Trouble getting motivated? Finding it hard to get the workouts up to another level, to clean up your diet, etc.? Looking for motivation from others? Well, there is only so much someone else can do to motivate you. At the end of the day, you need to motivate yourself.
Find your inner "Drill Sergeant". He is the person that helps you get through those things you just don’t want to do, but you know you have to.. Get to know him, love him and above all else LISTEN TO HIM!! He is the guy that makes me do cardio (I despise cardio); He is the guy that makes me do those extra reps and calls me "Mary" when I pick up the 30s instead of the 40s; he is the guy that whispers in my ear when I reach for the crappy food in the lunch line. (He does not say nice things)
If you don’t have an inner Drill Sergeant yet, you need to get one. Get one that knows how to push you. He needs to know what you are really capable of; otherwise he will let you off too easy (you already do that yourself now don't you?) He needs to be able to make you want to do that next rep or 10 more minutes on the elliptical, just to piss him off. (Remember how good it felt to accomplish something people said you couldn't) Give him the ability to push your buttons. Don't like your thighs? Tell him! He will use it against you when you are lying in bed instead of getting up to work out. Craving that vanilla fudge swirl ice cream even though you know it’s sabotaging your weight loss program; let him know. Wait until you hear what he calls you the next time you reach for it. (Don’t let the kids hear). Don't stop there. Give him stuff to do. Make him get you out of bed in the morning. Make him tell you what exercises to do today. Make him pack healthy snacks for you to take to work so you avoid the donut box your boss brought into the office.
Make him remind you daily, (hourly if needed) of the reasons you started your workout plan, diet plan, etc.
Use the Clarity of Intent methodology and Pyramid to Results to help give the "drill sergeant" inside of you all the information he needs to keep you going and kick your butt when you need it.
You will learn to love him, I promise.
If you are ready to make the commitment, get ready to change your life!
