I hope that training program you started in preparation for spring and summer is yielding results. If you did get a jump start, that's great, but its possible that you are starting to reach a plateau. That's right, already!... Have you noticed the muscles aren't as sore, lbs. are not coming off as fast? That's a good sign that you are stronger in many ways. But, if you do not change things up, you are likely to waste workouts by not challenging the new and improved you. Your body can adapt very quickly to the new rigours you have introduced it to. So, you need to shake it up, confuse the muscles, never let them know what hit them or what is coming next. This concept is called "muscle confusion" and has its roots in the Joe Weider system from decades ago. After all this time, all the new gadgets and techniques that have come out, this simple approach is still the best way to make progress and keep it going.
So, what to do now? Even if you are a beginner, you can easily build a new workout program that will challenge you by slightly tweaking your current program. Add some new moves, change the order in which you do your workout; add a few more minutes or new machines to the program. Any change will do for now to make your body work in a different way then its had gotten used to. You will see, even small changes will make a difference. Next posting, I will point you to some great workouts to try and SHOCK your system and break through that plateau.
If you are ready to make the commitment, get ready to change your life!
